The feasibility study was conducted to assess the viability of a complete waste management process using internationally proven technologies. The project would consist of a 52MW Waste to Energy plant that will process 1500 tons of waste per day.
The landfill site is currently taking in an average of 1,583 tons per day of general mixed waste. With the current economic, population and waste volume growth rate, the study showed that there will be close to 2,000 tons per day of waste dumped at the Robinson Deep landfill site by 2020.
As the Waste to Energy plant cannot process all the incoming waste, we have performed an analysis of the waste streams and have determined that there is 1,013 tons of usable waste dumped at the landfill site. The calorific values were assessed, along with moisture content and volatiles of the waste, which proved that 52MW could be generated on the site.
