The feasibility study was conducted to assess the viability of a complete waste management process using internationally proven technologies. The project would consist of a 44MW Waste to Energy plant that will process 950 tons of waste per day.
900 tons per day of Municipal Waste would be delivered by the Municipality to the Waste to Energy plant, instead of being dumped at the landfill site.
The landfill site is currently taking in an average of 918 tons per day of general mixed waste. And according to weigh bridge figures, the landfill site saw an increase of waste dumped of 15.2% over the course of last year.
From the study performed on the waste dumped at the landfill site, we found the moisture content to be around 30%. The study concluded the use of a RFD plant which would provide the fuel to the Waste to Energy plant which in turn would provide 44MW/h of electricity.
