The study was performed for Synchrona Waste Management Mbeya who would be providing at least 10 Megawatts per hour of electricity (24/7) at a competitive price to TANESCO from a 300 ton per day Waste to Energy plant coupled with a Carbon Capture & Neutralization plant located at the landfill site in Mbeya, Tanzania.
The project entails the installation, operation and maintenance of a Synchrona Waste to Energy plant on a site located at the city landfill site.
Process all usable municipal solid waste, no tipping/dumping fees, all indoors, emissions below European and Tanzanian standards.
Envisaged plant size: to handle 300 tons of municipal solid waste and agricultural waste per day.
Generation and sale of 10 MWh electricity on a 24 hour 7 day per week basis interconnected to the national grid, which is managed by Tanesco, the Tanzania Electricity Supply Company.
Land granted by City at landfill. All waste to go to WTE plant.
Plant Capital Cost: $ 56,313,600 – full turnkey installation
The Plant would be owned by Synchrona Waste Management in partnership with a local Tanzanian partner through an SPV to be established in Mbeya.
