Swaziland consumes 200MW of base load electricity. The project will provide 200MW to the Swaziland Electricity Corporation at a proposed rate, where the additional capacity will be provided for export of power to neighbouring countries through back to back agreements via the Southern African Power Pool.
The Power Consortium will install a Waste to Energy plant at the new landfill site in Mafutseni, which will process 200 tons per day of Municipal Solid Waste to generate 10MW of renewable energy. The plant will be designed to handle 400 tons per day, where the project will consist of waste collection services throughout the entire country.
